The first ever Little Chill will be taking place on Sat 7th and Sunday 8th August at a secret location in Birmingham city centre, to be announced three days before the event.

The `Little Chill` means just that – a place to come with family and friends, and enjoy the various music types on offer throughout the weekend with no moody vibes, moody people, or moody music. In fact moody is not invited!!!!
With the way everybody is in the SH1T money wise these days, we`re putting on our `little` event for the BARGAIN price of £8.00 for a full weekend ticket or £5.00 per day.
Now we`re sure that you will agree that this is serious value for money?
This event will be strictly ticket only and there will be NO paying on the door, so – NO TICKET, NO ENTRY!
We do understand that this may not be to everyones liking but it means that only people who really want to attend the event will go to the effort and buy tickets, thus helping to maintain the positive vibes and good times that we have in mind for everyone involved…

The event will commence on day one at 1pm and finish some time the following morning, and will re-open at 1pm the following day for more `Little Chill` fun. Featuring some of the finest DJ`s from what we consider to be some of the best home grown & independent club brands that Birmingham has to offer over three zones – one of which is a fantastic outdoor area, that can be covered if needs be. Let`s hope not though…

Entertainment wise, there will be different styles of music within the various zones which means something to please everybody. Once again – all will be revealed as we confirm brands.

Confirmed so far:

We Are One
Rhubarb Radio

Lead by award winning saxophonist and rapper Soweto Kinch and featuring a stellar rostra, The Flyover Show returns to Birmingham with dynamic and challenging performances on the 29th May. Now in its third year the unconventional inner city festival transforms the grey space beneath the Hockley Flyover into an oasis of cultural expression, celebrating generations of black British music and art. For the first time this show explores the specific theme of black female identity.

Not long now until this year’s Flyover Show, well worth a look if you are in Birmingham. Especially like this year’s theme! For more info check here. For the revolution see the video below…

There are a couple of fantastic documentaries available to watch on BBC Iplayer at the moment, but do watch them quick as they don’t stay up for very long! One is called Ella Fitzgerald: First Lady of Song.

Profile of jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald, one of the most popular artists of the 20th century. The film looks at Fitzgerald’s 50-year career from her winning turn at the Harlem Apollo’s amateur night in 1934, through her rise as the definitive exponent of scat singing, her celebrated Songbook albums and triumphant stage career which continued almost up until her death in 1996. Features archive footage of Ella in full flight, alongside interviews with her closest friends and collaborators.

The other is Nina Simone: A Tribute.

Tribute to the great singer, songwriter and pianist Nina Simone, who died in 2003. Friends and musicians who knew and loved her, including Elton John and members of the band she played with for decades, paint a candid picture of the temperamental diva of the blues who triumphed over the racism of the Deep South to become one of the world’s most charismatic performers.
